Dear Parents,

I apologize for not getting this documentation out to you sooner.  We (the coaching staff) wanted to take a solid look at all interested players.  We now believe that we have the final roster set for this year.  Below, you will find general information about our basketball club and details about our upcoming season.  One point that I need to share upfront is that Coach Nicko and Coach Edgar will take on an increased coaching role in practice and tournaments.  My current job role is limiting my available time.  The boys will be in very capable hands.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE

Depending upon our tournament schedule, we will most likely practice a couple times a week.   Friday and Sunday afternoon’s are our guaranteed spots Balboa Middle School.  In March, we may pick up a Tuesday or Thursday spot at Westpark.  I will try to give you as much notice as possible when additional gym time comes available.  Gym time is a premium around the city so we take the time when we can get it.

TOURNAMENT and LEAGUE SCHEDULE

We will play in 10-15 tournaments between now and the end of June. In the coming weeks I will distribute a tournament schedule with dates and locations for planning purposes. Also, we may participate in a local league to get additional game-time experience for all players.

CLUB FEES

Players’ fees will be $350 for the total season.  These Fees go towards tournament fees, gym time and uniforms.  Our goal is to keep the players’ fees as low as possible.

We will utilize the Ventura Seaside Tournament (April 20^th, 21^st, 22^nd) as our primary fundraiser to offset tournament fees and gym time expenses. We will need EVERYONE’s help (3-5 hour shifts on both Saturday and Sunday) working during this fundraising event, both players as well as their parents. Please mark your calendars now!  If your time is limited and you are rolling in cash you can opt out of the Fundraising event and write a check for $250 (tax deductable) to our club.

To minimize the cash out of my family’s pocket for tournaments between now and our Fundraising event I need to collect $350 from each of you by Feb. 29^th,  2012.  Please make checks payable to Ventura County Pirates Basketball Club.  I know that money is extremely tight.  Therefore, if you can get a sponsor to donate (tax deductable) to our club I will credit those funds against your players fees.

DOCUMENTATION

Please return the following completed documentation to me at our practice this weekend.

1. 2012 Players Contract (see attached)
2. A photocopy of your child’s birth certificate, and a copy of their school id (these provide proof of age and grade for the tournaments)
